About This Pipe Tobacco

Manufactured in a century-old brick building in picturesque Lauenburg, Germany, Dan pipe tobacco has gained quite a worldwide reputation among smokers, with a wide variety of blends and cuts on offer. Andreas Mund became the successor in charge of production when master blender Jürgen Westphal retired, and is assisted by Heiko Behrens as well as Michael Apitz of Dan Pipe.

Benny Carter was a prolific American jazz musician and composer in the early 1900s, particularly known for his pioneering talent on alto saxophone. Dan Tobacco's Devil's Holiday is named for the 1933 song by Benny Carter and His Club Harlem Orchestra, and as a pipe tobacco blend, it combines Black Cavendish with Golden Virginias, flavored with berries for a rich Aromatic mixture — hellishly good and heavenly delicious.

Strong berry (generic berry? Kinda like a berry candy scent) smell out of the tin, somewhat sweet - you can tell there's tobacco there but it's almost lost. What really tripped me out was that, like some other reviewers mentioned, it tastes almost exactly like it smells. It's like blood red moon, but fruity pebbles instead of cherry. Nicely fruity and and smokes just the same every time. It took me a while to get through the tin as I usually had to wait for my taste buds to tell me it was time to open the Devil's Den of Iniquity and slide into a smoke filled lounge with legends like Sade, Blake, Coltrane, Fitzgerald and Armstrong, and the ever amazing Cab Calloway. Tin had a very good seal when opened and moisture level was very good. Immediately you can smell the wild berry flavoring. Packed well, lit well, and burned nice and slow. About halfway through the tin now and it has been a pleasure to smoke in regards to the ease of maintaining an ember but for me the wild berry flavor is just too much and completely covers the natural tobacco taste....Read More
