About This Pipe Tobacco

Lagonda, from G. L. Pease, is a luxurious blend comprising generous portions of Cyprus Latakia, ripe red Virginias, and fine oriental leaf, with a bit of bright added for a hint of subtle sweetness. Pressing and aging in cakes integrates the flavours and partially ferments the tobaccos. The cakes are then sliced and tumbled into ribbons, ready for your enjoyment.

Lagonda smells different from any English I smoked before. It's super intriguing because the flavor upon lighting up the first time was just okay, not my thing, savory, but simultaneously it blew me away and I can't not smoke it. Sour, musty and incense-y. This is really good. But I can't understand why. So I'll keep going back to it. Very good blend. Good latakia flavor, the darkness of a Balkan but not as rich as some of his others. This has an old dusty quality to it. I find it sits a little heavy on the palate and burns a little hot so I get less complexity and nuance than with some other Pease English blends but it's definitely worth a try and I ordered more to have around....Read More

At first, I can not say it is a bad blend. Once the tin is opened, you immediately recognize an Abingdon with its herbal character. It’s quite striking, and when you read the other reviews, other gentlemen here have noticed it as well. As the bowl progresses, you begin to feel a velvety taste that strongly reminds me of Quiet Nights, probably coming from the Virginia and the Latakia. To break that sweetness, this blend probably relies on the Orientals. I don’t regret my purchase — after all, it’s an experience, and it remains a good tobacco. But I prefer a pure Abingdon or a Westminster as an everyday tobacco and Quiet Nights for the evening, rather than something that sits in between the two....Read More
