Package note of smoky, sweet fruit and mildly sour. Tobacco is a ribbon cut of light brown, brown and a little black. Moisture content is ok, most pipe smokers will want to dry it a bit. Burns moderately with few relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium to full and mostly consistent, with notes of smoky, tangy citrus, fermented sour, incense, herbal, zesty, vinegary, leather, musty vegetation, toast, wood, savory, sweet, spices, floral, orange bitters/peel, mildly spicy, a lemon grassy background note, and a peppery retro. I enjoyed this fresh from the shipment, but it really ages fantastically. I have an ample cellar of blends to work through, but I might need a few more ounces of this delicious blend to cellar to perfection.

For a VA/Lat mixture, there’s so many finer ones out there. This one has little nuance and character. The brights are a bit citrusy and semisweet. There’s a lot sharpness to it, and not in the least comforting. The Latakia doesn’t seem to be the 45% as stated. I just got an oz to try, so I’m not really out anything. C&D Yale Mixture is slightly better, but if you want a real treat of VA/LAT - Lancer Slices is about the best VA/LAT mix I’ve found. Mild nic, body and flavor. This fell FLAT....Read More
