About This Pipe Tobacco

When Dunhill announced it would no longer be producing tobacco, pipe smokers rued the loss of some of their favorite mixtures. Thanks to Peterson, however, those beloved blends are still available. They're the same recipes and feature the same tin art as Dunhill's, just re-branded for Peterson.

Dunhill's most luxurious pipe tobacco, Royal Yacht is here offered from Peterson. Virginias are carefully conditioned to ensure sweetness before being enhanced by a secret, subtle flavoring. It highlights the Virginias' natural sweetness while making for a delectable flavor profile all its own — one that's enticed pipe smokers for decades.

What a great Virginia!

Product: Peterson Royal Yacht 50g
Even though I am a big fan of English blends, I still have to have at least one bowl a day with this Virginia. The sweetness comes after a few ”sips” and enhances the pleasure. It also packs a nice little punch on the strength that I appreciate.
A plummy tin note

Product: Peterson Royal Yacht 50g
Upon opening you notice the nice tin note, which I have read, is a Plum topping. This is noticeable. The smoke is nice with a slight sweetness. The plum does come out in the smoke. It can also be a bit cigarettey and harsh if you puff it too hard. A lot of people have stated that this blend packs a wallop in the nicotine department, but I haven't experienced this in the slightest. Maybe im more tolerant that others. I've done big bowls and have felt nothing, but enjoy at your own risk....Read More
Nice kick

I grabbed a tin of this and tried immediately from the tin. My first impression was not great. I’ve learned from many years of smoking to never trust the first bowl, especially out of a fresh tin, and most especially one that was purchased by mail, as all tobacco seems to need a little time to acclimate to the new climate. This is especially true of cigars but most certainly true of pipe tobacco as well. After breathing for about a month, this stuff is absolutely fantastic. Nice and stout, with a rich and yet, surprisingly light mouth feel. The smoke is almost delicate in weight. Yet, packs a delightful punch in the strength and nicotine department. Nice ribbon cut too. Packs like a champ and burns like a dream. 10/10 in combustion. It really does burn down to light, feathery, white ash. My overall impression of this is one of lightness except in the strength. Packs a nice wallup and pairs marvelously with a spirit of your choice. I’m rather keen to take some of this down to the pub and see if it doesn’t get me kicked out...Read More
I waited 5 years for this.

This blend is nothing special. If it weren’t for the Peterson logo on the tin, I suspect far fewer people would sing its praises. The only real strength it has going for it is that it burns cool. That makes it ideal for the guy with fifteen minutes left in his thirty-minute lunch break—the sort who says he smokes for enjoyment, but really just needs something strong and straightforward to get through the day. In that sense, Royal Yacht serves a purpose. But with so many genuinely complex, nuanced blends on the market, I don’t see much reason to spend your time or money on Royal Yacht. -Moose...Read More
Good Cellar Blend

Product: Peterson Royal Yacht 50g
The tin I received was really fresh, only about 2 months old. While the blend was good, it had quite a bit of bite. So I jarred it up and checked it again 6 months later. Absolutely worth the wait. Great Virginia flavors with a lot of strength to it. I am a huge fan of Irish Flake and keep it on a regular rotation. Royal Yacht is similar in strength but offers me a different slightly sweeter experience. Definitely eager to put a few tins away and see what a couple years of aging will do....Read More
