About This Pipe
Like a great many American carvers, Micah Redmond favors compact shapes that are equal parts muscular and curvaceous. Such is the case with this Tomato design, a chubby Nosewarmer that measures just a touch over four inches long. It's short length belies its considerable breadth, particularly at the bowl: a wide, low-slung head of briar that fits quite naturally in the hand. Said bowl is paired to a broad ovoid shank, the latter echoing the expanse of the former. A dark sandblast dresses the stummel and highlights fetching grain throughout, and a vibrant stem of red Bakelite completes the ensemble, adding a splash of color to the otherwise muted palette.
