JK Blue and I’m glad I did. It’s even better than the Granger/Half and Half blend. It has the slight sweetness and baking spice aspect of the Half and Half as well as the smooth, rich nuttiness of the burley in the Granger. But as I say, it’s even better…richer and smoother. It lights easily and burns fairly slowly. In my big Danish freehand it smokes an hour and 20 minutes and is absolutely perfect with a nice French Roast coffee. Sampled in a MM Missouri Pride.
The next to last blend in this project to be reviewed is also the last remaining Old Joe Krantz blends, which is the blue label.
Sweet and fragrant, this is a nice codger Burley.
It is not very complex and it is not very challenging to approach. It’s got a nice Burley breadiness, a nice Virginia sweet tang and honestly I think I like it better than Half-and-Half or Burley and Bright.
This is your grandpa‘s blend. It has solid old man vibes. It’s meant to be puffed on mindlessly while changing the spark plug in the lawnmower or while flipping burgers on the grill. This is a great blend for keeping gnats and mosquitoes away.
One thing I noticed if you push it, it hasn’t almost metallic quality. Almost elemental. Think of if you held a penny inside of your cheek for a couple of minutes. Pushing it also results in a slight Tory cigarette like flavor profile.
It’s a super smooth and creamy smoke and obviously and easy all day long Burleigh blend. It’s kind of like a glass of sweet tea boat north of Richmond. It’s not as sweet as it should be, but there is some sweetness there.
By the third bowl, I felt like I was visiting with an old friend.

Love this for a simple, no fuss burley blend. Similar to Pegasus, a little less sweet. Just good and simple and straightforward. One I will stock and reach for often.
