Okay fresh, quickly improved with age

On having my first bowl I was rather disappointed. That said, I did what I always do with blends that don't live up to expectations and let it cellar for a few months, which did make quite the difference! I find it much richer, like the entire flavor profile has gone up in boldness by a few notches. That said, the second half of the bowl fades quite severely and turns to hot air—not ashy or unpleasant, just not like much of anything. I think I'm going to leave the remainder to cellar for much longer and see how much the second half of the bowl is impacted....Read More

I’m afraid I have to disagree with description and “a marvelous edifice of taste and aroma” it is not IMO. I just don’t like the taste of Virginias in this blend. The leading taste is of earthiness and dry hay. I can also taste a little tanginess and hint of bitterness. While red Virginia is present it is not in the lead and mix is really not sweet enough. On other hand Perique is of excellent quality and present in abundant quantity. It fulfills its role of close support rather admirably.
Blend is not pipe dependent. Tasted pretty much the same in briar or meerschaum regardless of pipe shape.
Altogether, I believe there are other VaPers which I have enjoyed much more. I don’t think that I will buy this blend again....Read More

Tin note of pungent, tart raisins and sugar. Tobacco is a Ribbon cut of yellowish tan and light brown with a little dark brown. Moisture content is great. Burns moderate with few relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild to medium. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium and mostly consistent, with notes of sugar, raisins, orange peel/zest, savory, spices, floral, rich earth, wood, fermented musty vegetation, sweet grass, bready, slightly spicy, a tangy dark plums and tart citrus background note, and a peppery retro. Virginia is leading with Perique supporting. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is great....Read More
