Possibly my new favorite aromatic
October 08, 2026

Product: Lane Limited RLP-6 Bulk
I’ll tell you what I love about this: It’s got a really nice flavor on the tongue and it smells great. I’m not getting notes of cake frosting or anything like that. It tastes like tobacco and not just hot air, probably thanks to the burley more than anything, as far as my tastes are concerned. And of the aromatics I’ve had that taste better than average (I love Royal Comfort), I think this might be #1 in terms of room note. Pipe smokers often talk about their memories of how amazing pipe tobacco smelled when they were kids. This is sort of a platonic ideal of that, for me. The vanilla scent is perfect. The taste is great. Everyone is happy (except my doctor)....Read More

Best Aromatic IMO
September 30, 2026
By: Tristan E.
Product: Lane Limited RLP-6 Bulk
This is, hands down, the best aromatic I have tried—and I’ve tried a ton of them. Coming into pipe smoking, I thought I was going to love aromatic blends, and for the most part, I did enjoy many of them. That said, this is easily the best of them all. RLP-6 comes at just about the perfect moisture level right out of the bag. A quick 15 minutes on a paper towel, and it is literally perfect. Another thing I really enjoy about this blend is that it actually tastes like what it claims to taste like. I don't have to sit there and try to decipher some flavor codex to find what was advertised, and I can really appreciate that. As I have progressed in my smoking experience, I have moved more toward English, Balkan, and cigar leaf blends. However, this is one of the very few aromatics that I will buy by the pound and keep in my regular rotation....Read More

Soft chocolate

Product: Lane Limited RLP-6 Bulk
I was looking for something similar to 7 seas original. This isn’t as good but it’s close. It has a soft chocolate taste. Very damp and needs a lot of drying time. On the plus side the taste stays pleasant throughout unlike most aromatics it doesn’t have an off-putting chemical taste. Can’t really pick up on any natural tobacco flavors. Just the chocolate and vanilla....Read More

Product: Lane Limited RLP-6 Bulk
This was the second blend I tried after 1-q, and I found it had a much more natural, deeper tobacco flavor while still being a very approachable and pleasant aro. 12 years later, and I still keep a jar around. Virginia flakes awesome, some quiet nights to drift off to bed, yes please, but RLP-6, I'm never without. Put it in your pipe, light it, and sit on the porch and watch the wind blow. It doesn't demand much from you, almost always behaves, and is always like going home....Read More

added to a tongue biting English.
May 27, 2026
By: Randall S.
Product: Lane Limited RLP-6 Bulk
I had an English that bit my tongue at the first light. What I was looking for was a pipe tobacco that mellowed out the English and added some sweetness. Adding some RLP-6 got me there. As a rule, I don't care for aromatics, so I proceeded with caution. What I have now is a milder sweeter English. I can still taste the virginias and the latakia. Really pleased with what I've got....Read More
