Too Harsh

Product: Peterson Irish Whiskey 50g
There are few tobaccos that I’ve ever considered throwing out after first trying them. If we don’t get along, I’ll usually throw them in a mason jar and let them age in my cellar to see if a little more time will help. For this one, there’s simply zero enjoyment for me. It’s way too harsh of a smoke. It’s like smoking a snuff tobacco. Usually the virginias will at least help pull the experience along but, in this case, it’s as though the harshness of the DFK overpowers the smoke. I may give it a couple more bowls to see if I can extract something from it, but, if not, it may be destined for the trash can. By far, it is the worst VaBur I’ve tried to date. Prov. 3:5,6...Read More

This is a very good blend but not for beginners. I would save this for experienced smokers who want a more old fashioned aromatic, if we can even call it that. It's more topped than cased with whiskey. Also, Irish whiskey isn't sweet it's more like blended Scotch. This is a pretty stout blend too. The Kentucky amps it up quite significantly. The Virginia providers sweetness. Definitely not a gooper, nice clean, dry smoke. If you're used to milder blends lookout, this can and will sneak up on you with a good nicotine hit. It's great with coffee in the morning. A dark, rich blend for the experienced palette....Read More

The tin note was (is) butterscotch. So is the taste for the topping. I did not like this blend until my 3rd bowl. It has more bite than I'm used to and a bit of a dry mouth feeling but nothing unmanagable. This blend taught me how to smoke slow. I mixed it with Orlick Golden Slice to smooth it out and its amazing. I dont want to smoke it without that mix now...Read More

I hared this blend with a one of my coworkers that also smokes a pipe. He and I really enjoyed it. This blend isn't too strong in the nicotine content. Very sweet and smooth smoke. Pleasant smell out of the tin and smoking out of the pipe. This is a very good starter tobacco for a new smoker or experienced smoked. One of my go to blends of tobacco and also my coworkers go to blend also. Get yourself a tin of this stuff....Read More

I didn't think I'd like this, but it is a favorite of mine. One of the few tobaccos I continue smoking after discarding every tobacco except those I like best. I compare it to Nightcap, but with a different flavor. The whiskey flavor is there, but I can hardly sense it. There's no latakia or oriental in this tobacco, but that is not a handicap. It's a bit strong, comparable to Nightcap. I have narrowed my preferences to English almost exclusively, but there are a couple of exceptions that I enjoy: This Irish Whiskey and Peterson Elizabethan....Read More

Tin note of sweet alcohol, vegetation and spices. Tobacco is a mix cut of black, brown and light brown. Moisture content is great. Burns moderate with a few relights. The strength is medium and nic is medium to mild. Flavoring is mild, with notes of Irish Whisky. The sweet whisky is more evident in the first 1/4 but never really goes away, just hangs in the background. Taste is medium to full and moderately consistent, with notes of vanilla flavored alcohol, creamy, sweet nuts, spicy, smoky peaty vegetation, dry, bitter, sweet-toasted bread, savory, sugar, woody, mildly floral, a sweet grassy background note, and a peppery retro. Burley is leading with Kentucky, Virginia and Flavoring supporting. Room note is tolerable, and aftertaste is great....Read More

Today I've cracked a 7 year old jar! Very good but the whiskey has all but vanished. A later bowl will be paired to Killkenny Irish cream ale and maybe a glass of Jameson's.Still a grand smoke
Under-rated. This is excellent.

If you like Peterson Nightcap, you will probably like this too. They are similar. The flavors are different but similar. Both are good relaxing blends with a noticeable but not overpowering amount of nicotine. Five stars.

I'm a natural smoker through and through. But lately I've been trying smoke's with a lil extra something. This one fits the bill. The tobacco shines through sweet and smokey with just a lil something something. And I don't know about yours. But my old lady doesn't mind it to much. It also has a good nic hit medium/full strength and fast.love it wish I tried it years ago...Read More

An amazing smoke, tastes good all the way to the bottom of the bowl, little or no dry time in my experience. The room note is good, not offensive to most non smokers. The only reason for me not doing 5 stars is the lids aren't always sealed great. But I order it and jar it up for the sellar and keep a tins worth ready to enjoy....Read More
