Good, Creamy Vanilla

Product: Sutliff Z92 Vanilla Custard Bulk
This is not a straight vanilla tobacco. Instead, this is a vanilla with a creamy undertone. The vanilla isn't overly sweet and there is no chemical taste, either while smoking or afterward. The room note is what you'd expect - pleasant and sweet. I have smoked this is filtered cobs, unfiltered cobs and in several different briars in my rotation. No complaints at all. If you want a vanilla that doesn't taste like you're chewing on vanilla beans or chugging vanilla creamer, this is it. The tobacco is dark and moist. You may have to relight it eventually, but in my opinion, why smoke something you wouldn't want to relight? (And yes, I've smoked tobaccos that I couldn't wait to go out - they were THAT bad.) The tin note smells like you can eat it. When I'm in the mood for something vanilla, this is my go to....Read More
Corncob Converts the Tadpole

Product: Sutliff Z92 Vanilla Custard Bulk
Alright, your favorite Tobacco Tadpole here, finally brave enough to try an aromatic. I approached Sutliff’s Z92 Vanilla Custard with the same caution I’d give a sketchy alley — I’d read the horror stories about tongue bite and chemical flavors.
First bowl in my fancy Savinelli briar? Meh. Kept g
oing out, flavor was playing hide and seek. I was ready to write aromatics off completely. Then I switched to a narrow corncob pipe, dried the tobacco for forty minutes, and just toasted it instead of blasting it with flame.
Game changer. Suddenly I’m getting thick, custardy clouds with real vanilla flavor, that silky oily mouthfeel that coats your tongue, and a pleasant lingering sweetness. The tin note is basically dessert in a can, but the actual smoke is surprisingly mild and enjoyable.
For my first aromatic experience, Z92 knocked it out of the park. Even this tadpole approves.
Four pipes out of five. The corncob gets all the credit.

I’ve tried several types of pipe tobacco and the flavor and aroma is the best in my opinion!
what I don't understand

Product: Sutliff Z92 Vanilla Custard Bulk
One of the positives of heavy aromatics like this one is the pleasant room note. It is not so much for the individual smoking the leaf as it is peasant for the people around. But what I do not understand is the extremely low rating given to this tobacco in the details section above, where they score it one star for room note. Who decides those ratings in the section above where they break it down as to what types of tobacco, burley, or Virginias or cavandish and such, as well as rating for strength , taste, and room note? So, I'm going to give it a 5 just because of the room note, even though it's not in any way one of my personal tobaccos....Read More
