About This Pipe
Micah Redmond is an American carver known for distinctly compact work that combines American muscularity with Danish flow and Japanese organicism for a style that is distinctly his own. Redmond's portfolio boasts a wealth of Apple and Tomato variations, with bowls that are often paired to either exceptionally long or extra-concise shanks. This Tomato is of the latter variety, with the entire pipe measuring less than five inches long. The saddle stem's slim bit and the pipe's overall weight of only a touch over an ounce offer easy clenching, and the shallow bowl is ideal for the short smoke break. A common feature throughout Redmond's repertoire is the domed saddle stem, which he uses to great effect — including for this pipe. Said stem is fashioned from swirling orange bakelite, a material that he uses often. A slim Box Elder burl accent marks the junction between shank and stem, its shifting beige hues a subtle complement to the stem and a bright contrast to the black-stained, sandblasted stummel.
