Sweet red and deep/dark Virginia bready flavor with Perique spice and figgy undertones.
Cake(kake) is gorgeous deep brown & breaks/tears and packs easily. Moisture out of tin is always perfect. Smokes easily and fully.
Simple perfection.

May be my favorite VaPer with BC

I've been on a VaPer with black cavendish kick lately and have finally tried Kajun Kake. I love it. Not sure what took me so long to try it, but it's becoming one of my favorites. I highly recommend it. Get some!

Time on deck is 10:27, 2nd of November, 2024. Just opened a three year old jarred whole square of Kajun Kake. Still had plenty of moisture, in a positive way. Smoked in a Savinelli Roma 804 KS. Verdict: Already a tasty favorite new, the age was worth the wait. The Cavendish, in a new tin, is quite good with smoothing the sharp edges of the Virginia; in the aged batch, the edge doesn't exist. An easy cadence develops the Perique much earlier, leaving the smoker with a smooth, figgy, musty feel, where consistent flashes of citrus color the overall experience. I recently took a crumble cake out of long term storage to sample what a couple of years in a jar has done. The blend was good right out of the tin with a bit of brightness to the flavor and a slight rough edge. Aging released the fruit essense with a smooth black pepper in the nose. Beyond the halfway mark of the bowl finds a dark candied fruit essence appearing. A slight earthy pepper compliments a delicious citrus tang as the blend evolves. This is an awesome Virginia/Perique blend that is often overlooked in the sea of tobacco. It checks all the boxes for a VaPer; it has black pepper spice, sweet notes from the Virginia's and the earthy, mushroom like, and red wine notes of the perique. This is exceptional with age on it. Thick and rich. Stewed Red Virginia deliciousness with a gorgeous Perique backbone. Sweet glorious excess in every last puff. Brilliant tobacco. I can also attest to this aging beautifully. Such a wonderful rich tobacco.
