Perfect description, I definitely get more cinnamon flavor up front with citrus in the back, I could even add Apricot in, as the citrus note reminds me more of that rather than an orange or mandarin.
Bowl Selection is Important

Most G.L. Pease blends are indifferent to bowl geometry, but there are a few exceptions - Gaslight, Penny Farthing, Cumberland, et al - this being one. Piccadilly performed best for me in Group 3 size chambers, most notably a MM Charles Towne Cobbler. Smaller bowls didn't leave time for the flavor to develop, larger and wider - steer clear of pots with this blend - washed everything out. It was so good in the cob, however, that Piccadilly is now in my Summer rotation. Perfect for a VaPer fan looking to try an Englishy blend, or for spicy English fans looking to lighten up their rotation....Read More

Very good, like some kind of savory food, a slightly olive flavor with hints of coffee and subtle woody notes, mild and burns perfectly, was able to fully smoke on first light, easy to keep lit and burns cool.

Tin notes of mildly smoky, sweet wine, and resin like spice. The tobacco is a ribbon cut and has a small amount of tan, a moderate amount brown-red and small amount of black. Tobacco is moist, so no drying needed. Burns is normal with few relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium and consistent with notes of lemon grass, tart fruit, raisin bread, earth, slight smoky wood, slightly floral, and a peppery retro. The Virginias are leading with Perique and Latakia supporting harmoniously. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is great....Read More

A breakfast blend? I only smoke in evenings and as a last pipe of the day, the lack of strength is much appreciated. It is a mild but complex virginia blend with small amount of latakia and perique. It is a mildly sweet, natural and savoury blend. The aroma is wonderful.
I don't understand the comparison to Dunhill Early Morning blend, this is far more interesting....Read More

I've smoked a bit of Early Morning Pipe, and GL Pease's Chelsea Morning, and this blend fits right in that category. There is both latakia and perique in there, but lightly so. This, like those other two, is best paired with black coffee and a morning breeze. I prefer the ribbon cut of this one to Chelsea Morning as it is easier for me to load, but taste-wise I like both equally....Read More
The best intro to English, great for anytime.

What a wonderfully balanced English blend. It doesn't sway too far in any direction, swimming the English seas without going too deep. Though I would not call this blend shallow. The fresh tin note is akin to sitting around a late-night dying down pine and cedarwood campfire within a fall orchard, where much of the fruit is a memory, but a faint fruit and pepper jam redolence breaks through now and then. The smoke is flavorful, earthy and rich but dry, with a consistent virginia subnote of sweetness. The bulk of the bowl brings a tasty and consistent smoke; rather than picking the flavors of each component out of the smoke and retro, the parts add up to something more then the sum of their individual notes. A cedarwood aroma melds with a smokey, earthly fullness that lasts through the whole bowl and is the most forward and discernable flavor. There is a whisper of smoked clove, mellow white pepper, and ceylon cinnamon. This is no lofty byzantian blend aimed at pleasing the palates of debutants light-mindedly lounging in a study with rumps upon puffy leather chairs; $900 pipes in palms. No. This is a working man's English. Hardy without pretense, subdued but not tame. Simple though not pedestrian or plain.
All in all, I recommend this for just about any pipe smoker, but especially for folks who want to dive into the English channel, without a laboriously labyrinthine swim in the darker waters of the English soul - which this may well lead to, but even so, you'll find yourself visiting Piccadilly quite often in any case....Read More

A Virginia forward English blend, similar to EMP or Presbyterian. Absolutely delicious and satisfying. Very pleased. It hits that perfect bready, smokey, spicy note. "Its is a provocative Pease blend of several Virginia tobaccos, delicately spiced with Latakia, and finished with Louisiana Perique. The alluring flavor is revealed in layers throughout the smoke. It's lighter and sweeter than the others, but still rich, with hints of cinnamon and citrus. A perfect "English Breakfast Mixture."...Read More
Sweet, Smoky, Spicy and Mild

15 month old tin: VERY sweet. In appearance, there's plenty of lemons mixed with mahogany and reds. Those lemons contribute a sharp, citrusy sweetness at first, but the reds and mahogany interplay and provide a wonderful Virginia symphony of sweet bread, wood and citrus. That sweetness is supported by a constant but unpretentious smokiness from the lightly applied latakia. The perique adds a small amount of plummy spice here and there, but like the latakia, it's never forward or a predominate element in the profile. This reminds me of Early Morning Pipe. Whereas EMP is less sweet and supported with toasted Orientals and their nuttiness - Piccadilly has a more contemplative VA nuance. The flavor profile of EMP tends to congeal into a monotony of stoved smokiness further into the bowl, however Piccadilly retains individual characteristics of various leaves... this is what EMP wants to be when it grows up. There's something else in Piccadilly I can't quite place... a honeysuckle/cinnamon note. Almost as if there's a tea element to this. At first I thought it was my imagination running, but there's definitely a topping to this that adds a subtle sweet spiced/floral nuance. This is great with a black cup of coffee. While it's a mild mixture, it does provide a bit of nicotine: 2.0 out of 5...Read More

Smoking this a little hot produces a peppery spice, similar to a cigar. However, when you keep it cool, the sweeter notes really come through. To me, I pickup a nutmeg, light cinnamon and cloves taste And aroma. I do think it is a little stronger and flavorful than listed. I love this stuff....Read More
