G. L. Pease: Cumberland 8oz Pipe Tobacco
Product Number: 003-029-0017
Robust and possessing a subdued sweetness, Cumberland, from G. L. Pease, is a delightfully orchestrated suite of American tobaccos. Red and matured Virginias establish a theme; Dark-Fired Kentucky and a pianissimo of Perique create the variations. Pure, natural tobacco flavors are harmonized by delicate arpeggios and underscored by deep, resonant tones. The coda is lovely and lingering — a perfect finish to a rich performance. Best savored slowly.

Light, grassy and - yes - lemony leaves which burn smoothly and easily. The tobacco it contains is all Virginia and it is mildly flavored with Lemon and honey.

lly interesting is that the blend slowly grows on you. As I started the can I thought, neh, it is really not my blend. But more I smoked it more often I found myself reaching for it, especially late in the evening. It is really tastes best in large thick walled pipes. It is almost as if they smooth the occasional harshness down.
Altogether it is rather enjoyable blend. I will probably not make it part of regular rotation but will definitely buy it now and again....Read More

edium to full and consistent, with notes of wood, floral, spiced figs, leather, Rasin bread, mild sweet grass, and a moderately peppery retro. Virginias are barely leading, with Kentucky on its heels. Perique is supporting. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is great....Read More

nates in this mixture and it gives that fortress (4 out of 5). Perique here, as it seemed to me in a small amount, is like the right spice in a salad. Perique is felt but not dominant. The mixture is only good for very, very slow smoking, cold on pipe fading. If you smoke otherwise you will get the bitterness of Kentucky and the bite of Perique. This tobacco is for the experienced Kentucky lover only....Read More

The blend overall is a very earthy blend. Hint of nut and floral tastes accompanied with a pleasant tin note. Burns a little hot for my liking

Not an extremely mild blend but exceedingly sweet and very well balanced right out of the tin. My guess is if you like what goes into this blend you will be very happy with the end result.

Another epic DFK/PQ/VA from the dark lord himself. I have nothing but good things to say about this. A bit less piquant than Triple Play. Excellent smoke.

cavalry on the periphery. And while G.L. Pease hasn’t delivered quite the number of great victories, to my liking, as Cornell & Diehl or Peterson has, with this blend they’ve made me smile, bowl after bowl.
At times while puffing this I contemplated the name and the general makeup of the blend and I imagined America’s fighting men puffing their Virginia tobacco as Burnside faced off with Frazer in the Battle of the Cumberland Gap, 1863. Rare insofar as it was a bloodless battle. I know...a bit fanciful, but so goes a typical smoking session in my world.
This will mantain a spot in my cellar as something I reach for when I want a smooth, easy smoke.

There is a slight sweetness to this. Perquie amount is good but not overwhelming. Leaves you with a lot of nicotine satisfaction. Smokes harsh
