Picked up a tin for St Patrick’s day because Irish. Maybe it’s because I come from a cigar smoking background but I found the warning about this being for experienced pipe smokers to be rubbish. I really enjoyed this one and am glad to see it on here reliably in stock.

This is something I’ll
be smoking on more than just St Patrick’s day from now on....Read More

At first, I thought this blend was too strong and harsh. After I prepared it, let it air out before packing a bowl, and paired it with a 6mm Activated Charcoal filter, this Peterson Irish Flake has become a good hearty smoke --like meat and potatoes! It's definitely not a snack or an all-day smoke for me but it's what's for dinner....Read More

So my favorite blends used to be the Big Three of MacBaren ( ODF, BK, and HH Rustica). Since they have now been discontinued in the US at least, this is a adequate substitute. Same strength in Nic and very smooth yet rich. The main difference that i can taste is Irish Flake doesn't have as much smokiness as the MacBaren blends.
Smokiness aside, this is a great VaBur/DFK flake. It burns easy if you dry it out and break it up. I tried fold and stuff and it didn't burn as well. I smoked in a Cob and a briar and the cob tasted better. It toned down some of the bite. But even in a briar the bite isn't bad at all. This is smooth and rich and strong. I think Peterson should name this Nightcap and rename nightcap. This blend relaxes more than nightcap due to higher Nic. Or at least it seems like it to me. If you like bold Burley and or DFk blends you'll probably like this. I still like Gawith flakes more but this is great too.

Product: Peterson Irish Flake 50g
I love this one as it captures the cigar like taste but the key to this one that makes it particularly special is the dark fired Virginia and Burley. The tin note to me is misleading because the way this one behaves in the bowl is different. Beautiful bellows of glorious smoke and a wonderful room note. Some say its a strong tobacco but i say it is rich. This one smokes best to me in good ole meerschaum, enjoy....Read More

It's hard to describe its flavor; perhaps that's just how Kentucky tobacco is. It's still very strong and distinctive. Beginners should be careful.
