This is very good, but it’s hard to describe. English with a hint of sweetness is the best I can do. The Latakia and perique are there, but not overpowering. The black Cavendish kind of brings everything together and provides a subtle sweetness. Overall, it’s a very earthy flavor. So Mississippi mud is an apt name. I would recommend a little bit of drying time. Straight out of the tin it required a few re-lights. I would definitely buy this again....Read More

Not the Greatest but Worth it!

Smells a little strange straight outta the tin. Good thing doesn't taste like it smells. Recommend maybe letting it dry a bit, at least a few minutes before lighting up. Once it drys, easier to rub out. Decent pack, not to tight. Immediately you get the smooth smokey base from the Latakia, rounded off by the black cavendish. Not very sweet. Subtle pepper notes from the perique tend to get a little stronger as you continue to smoke. Especially toward the end of the bowl. If Baby Jesus smoked a pipe, one of the Wise Men from the East would have brought Mississippi Mud.

Best advice for Mississippi Mud- don't smoke it out of the can. Instead, lay out your tobacco and let it dry for a few days until it is dry enough that you can crumble the ribbon. When the tobacco is very dry, the smoke of the leaf and all its nuanced flavors really come through. Right out of the can smells nice, but it's too oily. The coating of oil in the mouth, from the smoke, is tasty, but the aroma of the leaf smoke itself does not come through. Honestly, dry this out before you pack a bowl.
