Gawith Hoggarth & Co. - Westmorland Slices
Full marks for tobacco, with rich and full-bodied aroma.
This tobacco blend from GH doesn’t carry that heavy, acrid aftertaste that often lingers with string-cut tobaccos, and its strength starts off surprisingly mild on the first draw. Right after lighting, a rich, toasty grilled aroma unfolds softly, with a subtle, fresh briny note that evokes the crisp air of a lakeside cutting through the smokiness. Moving into the midsection, a distinct floral bloom emerges—delicate yet persistent, weaving perfectly into the growing depth of the blend. As you reach the final third, that signature complex bouquet unique to GH steps forward, layering perfectly without ever feeling overwhelming. From start to finish, the progression of flavors is thoughtful, well-balanced, and constantly engaging, with no rough edges or bitter harshness at any stage. For me, this is truly a perfect full-score tobacco.
