Best Selling Tinned Pipe Tobaccos

I understand the marketing of the small batch series, and I enjoy something that comes out yearly or every so often so that it's special, like a Christmas blend. But they all sell out within a few hours. Perhaps lower the maximum tins allowed, at first. I mean cmon guys, you WILL sell this blend. Give people a chance to get one. Especially if they are a person who has spent thousands of dollars on your tobacco. Just my 2 cents. Read Less

Fantastic blend! If you like Brothers in Arms, you’ll probably love this flake. Very similiar profile to BiA, with Italian Dark Fired. Smokes slower and cooler with a rich flavor. Im def going to regret running out of this.. I appreciate you guys giving this a 5 tin limit so most people can get it. 2 hours in and it’s still available. Also thanks for bringing Per Georg Jensen onboard for these amazing blends you’re making in the Legacy Collection. This tobacco is absolutely perfect. Orlik is like an old, dear friend or slipping into some comfy clothes. I prefer the smaller tin, which is probably mental - but it just tastes better to me this way. This tobacco has saved angry pipes who didn't like anything, and broken in some new pipes excellently. A standard; a classic. So terrific when your pipe aquires a taste for it after a few bowls. I cannot state enough how beloved Orlik Golden Sliced is. It is as perfect of a flake as one can hope for. The tin doesn't come with the cube of wood from the barrel in this new patch. I can hardly smell the bourbon. Huge disappointment, but it's still good because it's plum pudding. Cornell&Diehl dropped the ball. Sutliff did it better. Read Less

This is a very good blend, but not for $25/tin - Capstan Blue has lost it's value for me... there are a number of Virginias I have found that are close enough for nearly half the price. STG is looking for the kind of margins they get with cigars with this product, and apparently are getting them! I've moved on... Read Less

I wasn't blown away by this at first. However, the more I smoke the more I reach for it. This is a nice mild blend, burns well to a nice ash and takes to a flame easily. I will be buying more, this is really started to grow on me. As a follow up to this review, I just bought a larger tin, this has really grown on me and moving it to 5 stars. Read Less

Escudo is well represented in my cellar and for good reason. This blend ages with the best of them. Although, I really enjoy this blend with just a year of age on it. At this time when you crack a tin it has an incredible tin note of muscadines. The smell takes me back to my childhood and stopping at fruit stands on the side of the road with my mom. The blend not only smells great but it also taste pretty darn good too. The blend supports a wonderful mix of fruit, spice and a touch of hay (particularly when it is young). I don't write reviews often, but this one seemed to be a given. As is my usual practice, I opened a tin of Peterson EMP, the day after I got it, and the day before I smoked it. The introduction of air to a vacuum sealed tin always tends to excite the poor tobacco that has been deprived, and it gets it pretty excited. Well I must say I was incredibly happy to have EMP back. From the moment I opened the tin I could remember the wonderful scent of Dunhill EMP. From the moment of the 1st burn, everything was right in the world again. In the sixty odd years that I’ve been a pipe smoker, I’ve tried more tobaccos than you can imagine. Some were kind of nice for a while but then grew boring or obnoxious and fell by the wayside. Others have remained and I smoke them until I’m bored with them. I recently asked myself if there was a common thread binding the favorites. I did a mental review and concluded that I like unadulterated tobaccos…straight up cube cut Burley, Red Virginia Flake and a few ribbon cuts that, coincidently, are pure tobacco with no embellishments. This evening, I’m smoking Union Square in a brand new Peterson 129…it came in today’s mail and was loaded and lit within minutes of unwrapping. This misbehavior isn’t my normal approach to starting a new pipe but there are times when normal just doesn’t get it done, it’s a gorgeous pipe with more sumptuous curves than…my favorite mountain road…a favorite pipe smoking venue. The bowl has thick walls that help keep it cool and it’s comfortable in hand and a joy to look at. Draws well too…not too hard, not too easy. It happened that I had an open tin of Union Square at hand and a good Tamper and lighter. There was a symphony playing on a favorite radio station so I sat peacefully in my car and smoked for a bit. Union Square likely kept me from roasting my tongue and the pipe as it’s a tasty, cool burning Red Virginia Flake, easy to keep lit and mild enough to permit this bout of. insanity. It’s a slow burner and I’ve gone through most of a tin in just a couple of weeks. I’m finishing a second bowl along side a cup of decaf before bedtime and am flabbergasted at the combination of the pipe and tobacco. Maybe I’m just having a lucky day but it’s times like this that remind me of the easy nature of a pure tobacco. I think i’ll stick with this one for a while. Read Less

Smokey, rich, and everything you want a on a brisk fall night. I was given a sample of this from a friend, and once finished I immediately ordered some and brought it into my rotation. Heavier on the Latikia side than I would have thought, but still those orientals find their way into the mix. I've heard this could be an all day smoke, but I usually like to end my day with it. The strength of the nic isn't going to push you over however, if you're looking for that I'd go with nightcap. This is my "sit by the fire and contemplate writing the great american (or english, I guess?) novel" blend. Full flavored, and feels like you're sinking your teeth into a rich, and savory treat. Let me start off by saying when I first started smoking a pipe, I did what most do tried aromatics, I almost quit the same week until I discovered Virginia Virginia perique , English blends. I’ve smoked a pipe off and on for about 15 years only the last four years it’s been more of a lifestyle than a hobby so I started dabbling in aromatics again and I’ve had only a few that I like this is one of my favorites by far. You can still taste all of the Virginia’s when you sip it slowly you get the nutty and toffee caramel maple goodness. I often resort to this when I’m with some of my family and some of my friends that don’t particularly care for some of the blends that I smoke I smoked this at my son’s football games and occasionally when we’re some of his karate matches every time I spoke as I get at least five or six compliments and asking what I’m smoking. I really hate how people get on here and bash some of these blends mean if it’s not for you it’s not for you. Why did you even try it? If you know you’re not gonna like it did you do it just for something to talk about? I mean come on guys people that want real opinions come here to look and see what we think you can give you your review but don’t bash it grow up I’ve gotten blends that I really didn’t care for, but I give my review on it letting people know what I think of it what it taste like to me I don’t sit and cry about it. Ugh, I hate saying it... It's easily in my top 5 favorite tobacco of all time. If I only had this to smoke for the rest of my life, I would die a happy man. This is the blend for the back porch when the wife and the rest of the world are in bed, the dogs are curled up somewhere else, the traffic noise died down, fire pit going, you’ve spent all day banging the corporate drum while boss makes a dollar and you make a dime, and you pour one up, stuff this in a big briar and say “man, what a day, tomorrow is Friday”. This is one of C&D's core blends for a reason. Throw a rock and chances are you'll hit 1 or 2 pipe smokers who've tried it. And at the end of the day, it seems to elicit a love it or hate it response. I love it for many reasons. Firstly, I'm a burley man through and through, and BF delivers. Secondly, it brings the nic and the strength without blowing out my palate for the day. And last but not least, this is a very simple blend that takes very little thought. It's best sipped, especially in a Missouri Meerschaum cob of absolutely any size. I can smoke bowl after bowl of this while drawing up spec sheets and doing paperwork. Awesome blend again C&D!
