Best Selling Tinned Pipe Tobaccos

This tobacco is absolutely perfect. Orlik is like an old, dear friend or slipping into some comfy clothes. I prefer the smaller tin, which is probably mental - but it just tastes better to me this way. This tobacco has saved angry pipes who didn't like anything, and broken in some new pipes excellently. I don't write reviews often, but this one seemed to be a given. As is my usual practice, I opened a tin of Peterson EMP, the day after I got it, and the day before I smoked it. The introduction of air to a vacuum sealed tin always tends to excite the poor tobacco that has been deprived, and it gets it pretty excited. Well I must say I was incredibly happy to have EMP back. From the moment I opened the tin I could remember the wonderful scent of Dunhill EMP. From the moment of the 1st burn, everything was right in the world again. I wasn't blown away by this at first. However, the more I smoke the more I reach for it. This is a nice mild blend, burns well to a nice ash and takes to a flame easily. I will be buying more, this is really started to grow on me. As a follow up to this review, I just bought a larger tin, this has really grown on me and moving it to 5 stars. Read Less

Escudo is well represented in my cellar and for good reason. This blend ages with the best of them. Although, I really enjoy this blend with just a year of age on it. At this time when you crack a tin it has an incredible tin note of muscadines. The smell takes me back to my childhood and stopping at fruit stands on the side of the road with my mom. The blend not only smells great but it also taste pretty darn good too. The blend supports a wonderful mix of fruit, spice and a touch of hay (particularly when it is young). This blend is something almost mystical. It’s definitely a hybrid of VA and English. It’s somewhere in the middle. Smoky meaty bold savory and salty. The smoke is thick and chewy in the best way. Nice warming nicotine level. Burns perfectly out of the jar. Which might I add I love its jarred already. Burns down to dense grey and white ash. This is a very good blend, but not for $25/tin - Capstan Blue has lost it's value for me... there are a number of Virginias I have found that are close enough for nearly half the price. STG is looking for the kind of margins they get with cigars with this product, and apparently are getting them! I've moved on... Read Less

The tin doesn't come with the cube of wood from the barrel in this new patch. I can hardly smell the bourbon. Huge disappointment, but it's still good because it's plum pudding. Cornell&Diehl dropped the ball. Sutliff did it better. Read Less

As I seem to lean toward full flavor blends, this one got my attention. Nice real honest tobacco taste! It is strong but not over powering, at least for me. If you are sensitive to stronger blends, you might want to approach this one carefully at first. Also if you don't care for cigar leaf in your pipe best avoid this one. The second you open the can the first thing you smell is the cigar leaf. As I also love cigars, that is a good thing. This line of pipe tobacco is actually put out by C&D. I like the fact that it already comes in a mason jar and is generously filled to capacity. I don't think one more shred of leaf could be fit in. This is a winner in my book. Let me start off by saying when I first started smoking a pipe, I did what most do tried aromatics, I almost quit the same week until I discovered Virginia Virginia perique , English blends. I’ve smoked a pipe off and on for about 15 years only the last four years it’s been more of a lifestyle than a hobby so I started dabbling in aromatics again and I’ve had only a few that I like this is one of my favorites by far. You can still taste all of the Virginia’s when you sip it slowly you get the nutty and toffee caramel maple goodness. I often resort to this when I’m with some of my family and some of my friends that don’t particularly care for some of the blends that I smoke I smoked this at my son’s football games and occasionally when we’re some of his karate matches every time I spoke as I get at least five or six compliments and asking what I’m smoking. I really hate how people get on here and bash some of these blends mean if it’s not for you it’s not for you. Why did you even try it? If you know you’re not gonna like it did you do it just for something to talk about? I mean come on guys people that want real opinions come here to look and see what we think you can give you your review but don’t bash it grow up I’ve gotten blends that I really didn’t care for, but I give my review on it letting people know what I think of it what it taste like to me I don’t sit and cry about it. Ugh, I hate saying it... It's easily in my top 5 favorite tobacco of all time. If I only had this to smoke for the rest of my life, I would die a happy man. Bit, don't buy any of it because YOU will probably hate it. I'll bear the burden of trying to buy and smoke it all so you guys dont have to. No need to thank me. Just move right along. This is one of C&D's core blends for a reason. Throw a rock and chances are you'll hit 1 or 2 pipe smokers who've tried it. And at the end of the day, it seems to elicit a love it or hate it response. I love it for many reasons. Firstly, I'm a burley man through and through, and BF delivers. Secondly, it brings the nic and the strength without blowing out my palate for the day. And last but not least, this is a very simple blend that takes very little thought. It's best sipped, especially in a Missouri Meerschaum cob of absolutely any size. I can smoke bowl after bowl of this while drawing up spec sheets and doing paperwork. Awesome blend again C&D! Been smoking this for Years!. It is dry, BUT, I add slices of Orange Peel when i first open the bag. Shake it up and let it sit sealed for a day-ish.... good thing is... if it gets too moist, i can let it sit with the bag open until i get it just right.... I didn't think I would be impressed with this tobacco. Taking the lid off and giving it a little air I sniffed the tobacco. Hmm, that's quite nice. I left the jar lid off for about 8 hours and the moisture level was near perfect. These are soft Virginia flakes turned on end in the jar. The jar aroma is mellow and the bourbon is so faint that it smells more like apple or mixed fruit pie. I rubbed the flakes all the way out and loaded up. AMAZING! This is SUPERB! The Virginia is hay, and sweet feed, and mellow, while the liquor topping is very faint not really tasting like bourbon but a light fruitiness.I have tobacco hid away all over the house, but I have found myself revisiting this blend over and over until I'm going to need another jar soon. Smoked this one regularly while stationed in Germany in the US Army and super stoked it finally made it to the States. This is a smooth, heavy latakia blend with smoky, toasty, and incense like flavors throughout. Usually a blend with this many things going on can be a bit of a mess, but Zulu is just a perfect storm of flavor. I'm happy I can smoke this one by the firepit at home rather than outside the seahut while deployed. Read Less
