Quite a surprise

Product: Missouri Meerschaum Country Gentleman 1.5oz
Comes in a pouch, costs less than $5, how good can it be? Pretty freaking good actually. Citrus and sweet from the VA, just a tiny touch of spice from the Perique those components alone would make this a good blend. But the addition of the dark fi... Read More
red really adds a dimension to this blend with its smoky leathery taste that moves Country Genetleman completely out of the "pouch tobacco" category.
Definitely include a pouch of this on your next order. Read Less

I agree with the other reviews that this blend is out of the pouch tobacco category. Its absolutely enjoyable with a cup of coffee or tea. This is a porch night smoke not to be missed.

Product: Missouri Meerschaum Country Gentleman 1.5oz
At first look It appeared to be typical long cut cigarette tobacco once more being palmed off as pipe tobacco. after the first few bowls, it was growing on me and I embracedxthe simple tobacco taste, just a smidge of spice from the perique. Great b... Read More
urning qualities and just enough Kentucky burley to add some nic. Couldn't bite if you tried. Great for working in the yard or shop where you don't want some over the top blend. A beer drinking blend for sure. I would like to find this in bulk. Might age quite well. Read Less

Product: Missouri Meerschaum Country Gentleman 1.5oz
At first I thought that this blend was going to be mediocre because I thought it would be like a drug store blend. It's not even on the same playing field as drug store OTC blends. The very first thing you will notice when you open the pouch and give... Read More
it a pinch is the complete lack of propylene glycol. This is real tobacco here, and if there are additives they are tastefully chosen. It has a definite 'dark' smell to it that is very pleasing, along with quality virginias. It came to me with the perfect amount of moisture and lights very well. The dark fired Kentucky and the Perique add a very deep and 'dark' taste to it without being overpowering, and the bright and red Virginias really round it out and bring it all together in a very satisfying smoke. I enjoyed this thoroughly and will keep a pouch on hand. Read Less

Didn't care for it. I didn't like it in the pouch. I didn't like it taste or smell of the smoke. I didn't like the way the ashes smelled in my trash can. I love MM pipes, but I pass on this tobacco.
nice change of pace

Package note of mildly pungency, sour fruit and spices. Tobacco is a mostly a ribbon cut of orangish tan, brown and a little dark brown. Moisture content is ok, most pipe smokers will want to dry it a bit. Burns moderate with a few relights. The stre... Read More
ngth is medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium and moderately consistent, with notes of sour fermented vegetation, dry, spicy, sweet bread, plums, spices, woody, earthy, hay, tangy and tart citrus, acidic, orange peel/zest, floral, moderately savory a lemon grassy background note, and a peppery retro. Virginia is leading with Kentucky and Perique supporting. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is great. Read Less

It has very little favor, dry, and unimprsessive. Go with Orlik, Sutliff or Mac Barens.

Product: Missouri Meerschaum Country Gentleman 1.5oz
I enjoy Virginia Perique blends, especially during unbearably hot Summer days. Country Gentleman seems perfectly designed for just such occasions. Personally, my palate likes VA/Per tobaccos a little on the milder side. Having said that, I enjoy a sm... Read More
oke with a flavor punch, and this one represents both well. It's a nice ribbon cut and usually a tad on the dry side, both of which make for easy loading and lighting. Compared to some other popular VA/Pers like Bulls Eye Flake, Escudo, or even Drexel VIII (also in a pouch), Country Gentleman doesn't require all the fuss of a flake or coin. The flavor is mostly Virginia and Kentucky based. I get the high, hay-like VA notes with a smoking woods condiment. Not at all like an English, but just the right amount of smokey spice that when combined with the tangy Perique makes a flavorful counterpart to the Virginia's mellow sweetness. This is a great blend for those wanting to try a Virginia Perique blend blindly. For those who already enjoy a good VA/Per, this is surprisingly good for a pouch blend and mild enough to enjoy anytime. I've been impressed with each of the Missouri Meerschaum tobaccos. Though blended specifically for corncob pipes, Country Gentleman is enjoyable in whatever sort of pipe you prefer. I wish Country Gentleman was available in bulk. Thankfully, the pouch wont break the bank and may even save you some over similar higher priced tins. Enjoy. Read Less
