Cornell & Diehl - Haunted Bookshop 2oz
Mushrooms
Its a burley with perique and the combination some how creates a mushroom thing. At times I say its not that bad, other times I cant see what is good other than Matches 860 and his love for the blend, but then he loved alot tobaccos anyway. I do like the name, the ribbon cut gives way to a nice steady burn. Bulk purchase from C&D makes it a good buy. I cant help but imagine an old book store and the show ghost writer, the blend captures and old dusty papery essence making the tobacco unique in it own right.

The virginia reminds me of mac barren less bite with a touch of dark fired Virginia perhaps. The Burley is like HH, the perique peppery and balaced and the dark fire spins everything into a Gawith and hogarth thing without the Lakeland essence. Smooth and worth it when ever it is available, however i won't stress to buy again as limited as it seems to be, but if its there then great. Its a true sipper and very enjoyable, its good.

Subtle complexity
Upon my newfound love of dark fired kentucky, I found there seem to be few ribbon cuts in this style. It is easy to keep the bowl lit and flowing smoothly. Its not a punch you in the face blend it is simple and enjoyable virginia with that dfk in there as well. Sip and enjoy then taste the nuances that the ribbon cut alows. Age would do wonders for this one.

A Favorite.
This is a wonderful English blend. Its bready and has a bbq grill tin note. I hope this never ceases to exist. My favorite English blend.

Cornell & Diehl - Autumn Evening
In this case, a larger jar needed.
I cant believe that some of these top sellers are actually good. That is not the case with music, being a musician. Tin note maple, mahogany, bready. Its like a virginia with an amazing room note. Truly a great bulk tobacco that you can smoke and run out of before you know it, but not becouse its out of stock. This should be one of those unicorn tobaccos that you have to go treasure hunting for that wispers sweet nothings to you in your sleep, only to wake up in a cold sweat with tears on your pillow. Thankfully the goodfellas at C&D care about you, and they show it.

This to me is the classic peanut butter and jelly blend. A great virginia and a great burley complimenting one another to make something simple yet amazing.

Cornell & Diehl - Burley Flake #5 2oz
Good smoke
I gave this a whirl becouse I love a good flake and dark fired kentucky as well. This has a nice fluff when broken and a slight wine note in the tin. Its more of a virginia burley to me as the DFK is hiding out. I really enjoyed this. It is an excellent offering by C&D and reminds me of the Reserve XXV Dawn.

A go to virginia
I always have liked this one for the simplicity and full flavor. Its a ribbon virginia and normally i only buy flake virginia but this is easy to deal with and has the nicotine kick as a bonus.

At the top of English blends
For me this was my first English blend and after trying many English blends its probably one of the best for my money. I guess it sort of set the standard in my book.

Cornell & Diehl - We Three Kings 2oz
Enjoyable
This stuff is pretty good, not usually do I enjoy an aromatic but this one taste like tobacco. Has a room note of a bit of rum and Santa's cookies. I would definitely buy it again for the season.

Depth
Tin note is reminiscent of something like an English blend. There are multiple layers of flavors throughout the different stages of smoking the bowl. Each type of tobacco plays a part in the song and at times one more than the other and then taking turns. Well balanced and very smooth. I personally enjoyed it in a churchwarden, no bite what a delight. If your looking for something complex and smooth but not an English look no further.

Peterson - Irish Flake 50g
Dark fired up
I love this one as it captures the cigar like taste but the key to this one that makes it particularly special is the dark fired Virginia and Burley. The tin note to me is misleading because the way this one behaves in the bowl is different. Beautiful bellows of glorious smoke and a wonderful room note. Some say its a strong tobacco but i say it is rich. This one smokes best to me in good ole meerschaum, enjoy.

Carter Hall - Carter Hall 14oz
Surprised.
It is unfair and and injustice to discriminate this tobacco for any reason whatsoever. There is a clear reason this has been a blend that has been able to stand tall for so many years. Its smooth, no bite, easy to pack, easy to enjoy, After having tried dozens and dozens and dozens of tobacco blends this one suprised me the most. I love it.

Half and Half - Half and Half 1.5oz
Mild Prune aromatic
Bag note is prunes with a strong liquor note thats almost cloying. First light you get prunes. Mid bowl, the aromatic aspect settles a bit and you have a mild smoke that lets you go to a frieght train if desired with zero bite. End bowl is pleasently simple with the burley taking stage. This is a tobacco that is unique in its own way and simple, it smokes smooth and can produce heavy clouds with a prune aspect to it and no bite. An old classic thats worth a look.
